Tower Grove I
Hidden behind a gated community in Raleigh, this 10,000sf residence blurs the line between indoor and outdoor spaces with the extensive use of floor to ceiling glass. This remarkable ground up development in Raleigh offers artfully combined contemporary luxury and material surroundings with its natural surrounding beauty.
Notably distinct among any home in the Triangle are the coordinated colors and materials in the residence. You’ll notice that the front steps, the flooring, the stone veneer, and stone staircase was all cut from the same blocks of marble. Kevin traveled overseas to hand select the blocks be-fore they were cut. Also coordinating are the kitchen cabinetry, interior doors, and closets that are clad in the same veneer, offering a level of coordinated symmetry not seen in any previously known or future home in the Triangle
The show kitchen meant for entertaining. For scale, the kitchen island is 12’ long. The scullery behind the kitchen is where the actual cooking is done in the residence
Notice that the limestone floors match the limestone stairs in this residence. This was an intentional detail on behalf of the designer. The stair-case was designed in 3D before being commissioned. We did that so that we could study how the staircase interacted with the flow into the others paces.
This residence was fully furnished before being delivered to the owner. The interior designer hand selected everything in this residence, down to the books and decorative moss on the coffee table.
The first floor guest bedroom is bathed in natural light and a wooded view of the back yard. The shades and blackout curtains are tucked into the ceiling. Note the thin linear slot vents that supply the air conditioning in the ceiling
The residence is seemingly tucked into a forest, but the Raleigh Durham airport is only 12 minutes away.
The exterior veneer is a split faced limestone, which match the steps, and the interior limestone flooring. Kevin traveled to Europe to hand select the blocks of limestone that were cut to create the flooring, the steps, and the exterior veneer, ensuring a seamless continuity of materials for this residence.
The master bathroom is largely rectilinear by design, from the cabinetry, to the limestone slabs, to the rug. The designer intentionally added a subtle limestone tub in the center to soften the room and bring a more casual atmosphere to the space. That limestone tub is 500kg (1100lbs), and was carved from the same blocks of marble that were cut to create the floors in this residence; a nuanced yet meaningful detail
Secondary bathrooms throughout the residence featured floor to ceiling marble accent walls, and panels of glass that were seamlessly integratedinto the floor and ceiling of the residence. Kevin hand selected the marble slabs for these accent walls, having sorted through approximately 500slabs in order to get the specific look that we wanted for the residence.
