A couple of empty nesters with very eclectic tastes wanted to build their retirement home on a tract of land overlooking meadows and horse pastures.
Key Challenges
So, the house on the exterior is decidedly French Country. However, the clients wanted a completely modern interior, reflecting their eclectic tastes. Mixing distinct architectural styles is problematic, and so we really had to get inside their minds to understand their vision.
The clients had contacts in the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic, so we flew overseas with them to hand select the special lead crystal lights they wanted to have in the house; the ones with the 24% lead oxide content only found in Bohemia. And that was important to them, which made it important to us.
We also had our metal fabricator design and install a floating curved railing that we took to an automotive shop to give it a shiny Mercedes Midnight Black paint job.
Successes
We were able to successfully marry two distinctly different design languages into a home that was as beautiful as it was eclectic.
